Community Budgets

Tuesday 8th February 2011

Greater Manchester has been selected by government as one of 16 pilot areas to trial a new approach to tackling dependency and families with complex needs.

Our commitment is to use community budgets to:

• accelerate our work on tackling poverty and life chances, improving outcomes in the early years and reducing offending rates

• help generate new ways of working that significantly reduce demand for public services and particularly costly acute interventions.

• save money by improving the way that Greater Manchester’s public service organisations invest and get a return on their investment.

AGMA recently held an event to help raise awareness about Greater Manchester’s approach to community budgets and to describe a case study that explain how community budgets might help to improve the outcomes for complex families and offenders.
