Provision of Taxi and Minibuses

Wednesday 19th January 2011

The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) is seeking to develop an Electronic Purchasing System for the provision of transport to meet Local Authority and GMPTE needs across Greater Manchester area.

It is the intention that the system’s duration will be for 2 years with the option to extend for up to an additional 2 years.

The system covers the transportation of children, adults and older people on various regular scheduled and ad hoc journeys in minicabs and multi purpose vehicles (MPV’s).  Local Authority Clients using the service are likely to be vulnerable and may display a range of learning and or physical difficulties. They may display challenging behaviours or have sensory disabilities. Because of this vehicles may need to meet passenger needs and have specialist equipment such as childseats and or harnesses and tail lift facilities.

Initially we are looking at establishing the system in Bolton, Manchester, Stockport, Trafford and Wigan Local Authorities. However GMPTE operate across the whole of Greater Manchester and operators from any of the areas interested in providing services to GMPTE are encouraged to apply. Other local authorities will come on board with the system as their current arrangements expire.

A number of open days to support potential contractors are being arranged for week commencing 24th January 2011.  Anyone interested in providing services is encouraged to attend these sessions as they will provide an explanation of the tender process and will provide an overview of the electronic purchasing system that will be used they will also provide you with the opportunity to ask questions.

Companies and individual drivers are invited to register their interests in attending an open day by emailing collaborativeprogramme@agma.gov.uk  or by registering on The Chest and completing the attendance form. You can register on the chest at www.thechest.nwce.gov.uk where tender documents will be published after the open days have taken place.

You will be contacted with confirmation of the time and date of the presentation in due course.

Deadline for registering interest is Friday, 21st January 2011.
