Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership Proposal
Greater Manchester is a highly coherent functional economic area and our understanding of its economic potential was supported by the independent economic analysis provided by the Manchester Independent Economic Review (MIER). MIER demonstrated that the scale and the opportunity in Greater Manchester is of national significance, yet we face two significant challenges: to increase our productivity and the competitiveness and efficiency of the labour markets; and secondly, to ensure that all parts of Greater Manchester and its people benefit from and contribute to growth through by tackling low skill levels, worklessness and public service dependency. Manchester Independent Economic Review
The strengths and challenges identified by MIER have been translated into the Greater Manchester Strategy, which sets out our vision for sustainable , private sector led growth across Greater Manchester and identifies key priorities for action.
