Greater Manchester LEP Board appointments confirmed by GMCA

The eight remaining positions on the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (GM LEP) board were confirmed this morning.

Announced at the first meeting of the new Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), the appointments are:

• Keith Johnston - Partner and Head of North West Market, Addleshaw Goddard
• Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell - President and Vice Chancellor, University of Manchester
• Neil McArthur - Chairman and Head of Innovation, Talk Talk Technology
• Ken Knott - Chief Executive, Ask Developments Group Limited
• Peter Marks - Group Chief Executive, Co-operative Group
• Alison Tumilty - Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director, Rathbone Training Ltd
• Roger Milburn - Director, Ove Arup and Partners Ltd
• Scott Fletcher - Chairman, ANS Group

They join chairman, Mike Blackburn and the four local authority representatives - Lord Peter Smith, Sir Richard Leese, Cllr Howard Sykes and Cllr Bob Bibby - who were confirmed as board members on Friday, 25 March 2011.

Mike Blackburn, chair of the GM LEP, said: “The collective skills and experience of the board is impressive. We are all committed to driving Manchester’s economic growth and helping to create local jobs and I look forward to getting down to business.” 

The recruitment process for the private sector board positions began on 27 January 2011 and was co-ordinated by GatenbySanderson, an executive search and selection consultancy. All appointments were subject to GMCA approval. 

The first meeting of the GM LEP board will take place later this month.
